What is your book about?
How are some leaders building wealthy businesses and attracting scores of loyal clients, even through economic turmoil?
This book shows you their secrets.
EnergizeGrowth™ NOW is a contemporary planning and marketing guide with a dash of inspiration. You will benefit from this book if you are a growth company CEO, consultant, or seasoned advisor looking to increase your company valuation, the quality of your clientele, and the positive impact of your business on the planet. Hear dozens of wealth-inspiring stories from successful companies such as Seventh Generation, FranklinCovey, and others.
What inspired you to write your book?
Three major events in 2000-2001:
1. A client evaporated into thin air when their top executives were sent off to jail for cooking the books.
2. September 11, 2001 reset my view on the true meaning of life, and the key definition of a wealthy company.
3. My largest client in 2000 asked that I be fired – I was a cultural misfit. It was time for me to evaluate my strengths and how I could contribute to the world.
How did you come to do what you’re doing today?
After these major events happened, I set off to find the NEW definitions of wealth, and provide B2B leaders with tools that set up companies for success. Eight years later, here I am!
Can you describe a typical day in your life?
A perfect (and usually typical) includes: time to reflect, market, interact with clients, write articles and blog posts, practice with my swim team, play with our cats, and enjoy a lively discussion with my husband Magnus. Oh, and a good glass of Pinot Noir over dinner.
What do you most enjoy about what you do?
Watching my clients shift from overwhelm and lack of focus to a clear picture of how they will grow their business. I also love speaking at conferences and meeting leaders all around the world. It provides me with discretionary time. THAT is true wealth.
Are there any people and/or books that have inspired you along your journey?
My parents taught me resourcefulness and the importance of lifelong learning.
My husband inspires me to keep moving forward and see things to completion.
Coach Bob for keeping our grueling swim workouts fun, and for leading by example.
I devour books from Marshall Goldsmith, the Dalai Lama, Michael Beckwith, Geoffrey Moore, and Jill Konrath.
An eclectic montage, for sure.
Can you share some business tips for our readers?
These lessons took me 24 years to learn. I hope to save you the trouble:
1. Develop a written, easy to understand growth plan that everyone on your team can understand.Be sure that they see the connection between your growth and marketing plans and their daily jobs.
2. Find systems and rituals to manage your negative and limiting beliefs about growth. It may mean joining a mastermind group, hiring a coach, running a half marathon, or practicing meditation. Find routines that give you a sense of certainty in a time of great uncertainty.
Can you share something that people might be surprised to learn about you?
I love to sing karaoke!
