This month I am thinking about the “O” word. No, not Obama or Oprah. I’m talking about Overwhelm.

I thought I had moved past that phase in my life, but it snuck up on me in October. Not a day went by when I didn’t feel suffocated by all that I needed to accomplish. How could I let this happen?

I am resolved to get back on track and since I know that many of you also suffer with occasional bouts with the “O,” I thought I would share a few strategies that are working for me (now that I have recommitted to them!):    - Take charge of your schedule by designating time for everything – projects, meetings, exercise, kids, all of it.

- Manage meeting days. Instead of treating your schedule like a moving target, pick one or two days each week that you are available for meetings. Reserve the remaining days for accomplishing goals.

- Remember that when you say yes to something, you must say no to something else. Give careful thought to taking on anything and everything.

- Set up e-mail folders. I have “Respond this Week” and “Read Later” folders that I catch up on when I have a few extra minutes.

- Establish a gratitude journal and at the end of each day, write down all of the things that you are thankful for. This has helped me focus in on the little things (like sharing laughs with my son) and it is a great way to end the day on a positive note.

- Set boundaries in your business life and devote your focused attention to your family and personal relationships.

- Hire more help!

Are you making leaps in your business?

With all of that said, I am bursting with excitement over the coming year. Despite the economy, I am looking forward to growing my business even more in 2009. I hope you are enjoying the same enthusiasm (if not, it might be time to make a change!).

Wishing you abundant joy and success,

-Stephanie
