Best Gifts for Entrepreneurs
By Stephanie Chandler on Nov 29, 2010 with Comments 2
I’ve been jotting down ideas for this blog post for weeks! Here are some of my favorite gifts for entrepreneurs—enjoy! And don’t forget to help us build this list by adding your recommendations in the comments…
These handy notebooks have removable pages, making it easy to brainstorm, plan projects and keep your thoughts organized. I own several and must admit that I am addicted to them!
Custom Cell Phone Cover from SkinIt
Here is one of the coolest accessories available today! You can choose from a huge variety of designs including professional sports logos and popular characters (Hello Kitty anyone?), or upload your own design. I had fun adding photos of my son for the face of my phone and photos of my books for the back of my phone. You can also design skins for laptops, gaming devices and other handhelds.
Verizon Wireless now offers a mobile broadband device that you can take with you anywhere. The MiFi allows up to five devices to connect via wireless access, and can be used in your living room, in the car or in a hotel room. I recently took mine along on a road trip—so cool!
This is my favorite magazine to receive each month because it’s loaded with inspiring articles. Recent issues have covered the journeys of Ariana Huffington, Maria Shriver and Kenneth Cole. As a bonus, each issue includes a CD that features interviews with experts along with excerpts from presentations by folks like Jim Rohn. This is a must-have for every entrepreneur!
The weekly calendar features space at the top of the page to list tasks and keep them organized, which can be a great boost for productivity. There is added space for notes at the top so you can plan ahead the week prior. If you manage a lot of tasks on a daily basis, this calendar turned organizer may be just the solution you need.
Barnes and Noble carries a wonderful selection of 8.5×11 journals with hard covers and lined pages—great for taking notes or making big plans! Journals come with a variety of attractive covers and can be found online or in store. I keep these handy for all kinds of projects.
I once packed 12 books in my suitcase for vacation—now I never have to do that again! Though I’m a book lover to the core, I have grown to love reading on my Kindle. There’s the instant gratification of downloading a new title in just seconds, the long battery life that allows you to read for 8+ hours, and the ease of carrying just one book on a plane. Love my Kindle!!
The iPad makes a great toy for adults and kids alike. Mine lives on my coffee table for quick access and I use it to read news, shop online, and watch movies—plus I use apps for all kinds of activities. There are also lots of interactive apps for kids, along with animated ebooks that can promote reading. My 4-year old can spend hours with the iPad, so it makes a perfect companion for road trips. Cool feature alert: the Kindle app for iPad syncs with your Kindle so if you leave off on page 112 on one, it will pick up at the same spot on the other device. I will note that I prefer reading on my Kindle due to its light weight and reduced glare, but the iPad can be used for reading and is fun for many other activities.
This smart software takes your dictation and converts it to text. Used by doctors and attorneys, this makes a great tool for those who prefer to speak notes than write them. Hey, you could also use it to dictate your way to writing a book!
Still need some ideas? Here are a few more to consider for the entrepreneur in your life!
- Rolling Laptop Bag
- Executive Pen
- Subscription to Netflix (great for travelers since you can watch movies on demand on your laptop or iPad)
- Amazon gift card (my personal favorite)
- Weekend get-away or vacation (most of us need others to nudge us to take time away!)
- iPod
- iTunes gift card
What gift ideas did I miss? I know there are many great ideas out there! Please share yours with our readers in the comments…
